Taupe Banana Origin Story

One of her childhood nicknames was Bananitos. That pretty much covers it.

The use of the word taupe is her way of expressing humor within her brand, definitely not to come off as pretentious. By definition, taupe (pronounced towp) is a French name describing the color grey with a tinge of brown. Taupe Banana is a play on the words in the phrase “top banana.” Or as Holly Golightly says in Breakfast at Tiffany’s, “It’s useful being top banana in the shock department.” “Whatever that means.”
